Local Community Radio Act of 2007 (S. 1675/H.R. 2802)

The Local Community Radio Act (S. 1675), introduced by Sens. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.), would allow new Low Power FM (LPFM) radio stations in communities across the country.

A companion bill, H.R. 2802, was introduced in the House by Reps. Michael Doyle (D-Pa.) and Lee Terry (R-Neb.). This bipartisan bill would also open the radio dial to more LPFM stations, restoring needed diversity to our airwaves and bringing forth new voices and viewpoints that are often overlooked by large commercial broadcasters.

Free Press strongly supports this bill.
