Without the media, we can’t hold our elected leaders accountable. The way we cover elections says a lot about the health of our democracy. And right now, the prognosis doesn’t look good: Instead of covering the issues that matter, we’ve reached a new low in horse-race prognosticating, gotcha journalism and fluff. At a time when there have never been more hours, pages and gigabytes devoted to the election, why isn’t there more substance? Panelists will discuss what the media’s missing, what election coverage should look like, and what it means come November.
