Spectrum 2.0: Using Public Airwaves to Build the Future of the Internet

Date: Saturday, June 7th
Time: 9:30am to 11:00am
Room: 200 F
Track: Media Policy
Session Type: panel

Cities, companies and community groups around the country are exploring ways to use the public airwaves to make faster, cheaper wireless Internet accessible to all. Will the FCC and Congress allow our highly valuable airwaves to fall into the hands of profit-hungry operators such as AT&T and Verizon? Or will they choose policies that open up the airwaves for public use and innovative applications? This panel will discuss the latest developments in spectrum policy and illustrate how such policy decisions affect local and national efforts to increase access to affordable, high-speed Internet.
