Track: Civil Rights, Social Justice, and Media

Black radio has played a central role in informing the community with the latest news about the struggle of the black community for racial equality. It empowered the black community and black political leaders. But the news departments at black radio stations have disappeared as a result of consolidation. Panelists will address the current state of black radio and will explore how to hold these outlets responsible for fulfilling their public interest obligations by airing news programs for the black community. Panelists will also discuss the impact of black radio on black political leadership.
