Netroots Nation

Gina Cooper is executive director of Netroots Nation, an annual convention of people from all walks of life who belong to the Netroots, the U.S.-based (but globally focused and inclusive) nonpartisan grassroots community that uses the Internet and blogs as primary tools for expressing viewpoints; building consensus; acting to change the status quo; and mobilizing huge numbers of people. Often cited as a spokeswoman for online activists, Cooper has appeared on several national radio and television programs, including NPR's Morning Edition and C-SPAN's Washington Journal, and has been quoted in the New York Times and other major newspapers. Before her work with Netroots Nation, she was an early netroots activist and high school teacher in Memphis, Tenn.
