Anthony Riddle

WBAI-FM

For more than 25 years, Anthony Thomas Riddle has worked in the many forms of media for the purpose of effecting positive social change. For the past 22 years, he has concentrated his efforts in the emerging field of community media. Riddle's work has been on all levels, from technician to policymaker, from producer to political advocate, from community-based teacher to international representative. He has served as general manager of WBAI-FM, press secretary of the Pacifica Foundation, speech writer for Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson, national chair of Alliance for Community Media, executive director of Alliance for Community Media, and executive director of Manhattan Neighborhood Network. Riddle also started the first nationwide Youth Channel and was executive director of Minneapolis Telecommunications Network. He has been a presenter to conferences and commissions in Eastern Europe, North Africa, the Caribbean and throughout North America for the purpose of sharing information on community media. He has been a member of President Carter's Commission on Radio and Television Autonomy in the Former Soviet States and a program consultant for the Media Justice Fund of The Funding Exchange.
