Brandon A. Benavides
Brandon Benavides is a news producer for KSTP-TV in Minneapolis/St. Paul. When the I-35W bridge collapsed over the Mississippi River, Brandon was part of the station's 25 hours of nonstop coverage. Before joining KSTP-TV, he was the executive producer for KETK-TV, where he led the news team in its daily coverage and produced LIVE @ Five for the NBC affiliate in Tyler, Texas. Brandon taught an undergraduate journalism course at the University of Texas at Tyler. He holds a Master's of Arts in journalism and public affairs degree from American University in Washington. While in the nation's capital, Brandon worked as an intern for the U.S. House of Representatives Radio-TV Gallery on Capitol Hill and for Dateline NBC in the Washington Bureau. Brandon helped cover the funeral of former President Ronald Reagan and watched as Prime Minister Tony Blair addressed a joint meeting of Congress. He has a bachelor's degree in communication from St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas. Brandon is member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and serves on its board of directors. He represents 13 states in the Midwest. He currently lives in St. Paul.
