Is CableCARD a Dud? Only 2,000 Requested over Summer

Initially designed to break the cable industry's stranglehold on set-top boxes, the CableCARD initiative has found little consumer uptake because they have not supported electronic program guides or video-on-demand. But that may change as new technologies allow for two-way operation.
