Carrboro Citizen Receives $50,000 Loan from Town

The Carrboro, N.C., Board of Aldermen voted unanimously to loan its two-year-old community newspaper, the Carrboro Citizen, $50,000, even though that paper is not profitable and has "no guarantee [it] can become profitable." Some have expressed concern that the loan constitutes a conflict of interest for the town and the paper.
