We Rallied to Stop the Spying
More than 3,000 people rallied in Washington, D.C., on Saturday to demand an end to the NSA's mass surveillance. This was the largest-ever anti-surveillance protest in the United States.
Free Press Action Fund helped organize the rally as part of the StopWatching.Us Coalition, which advocacy groups assembled right after Edward Snowden exposed the NSA's programs.
The day before the rally, the coalition held a lobby day demanding that Congress investigate the government’s unchecked spying programs, ban blanket surveillance of telephone and online activity, and pursue accountability for any officials who mislead lawmakers and the people.
The day culminated in a petition delivery of over 570,000 signatures.
