In response to reports that Fox News radio will be broadcast on as many as 500 Clear Channel-owned stations, Free Press Executive Director Josh Silver made the following statement:
"This partnership between Clear Channel and Fox News Radio further illustrates the dangers posed by increased media consolidation. Both of these media giants are widely known for using their extensive media holdings to promote their own political and business agendas and to squelch dissenting, alternative voices. They are concerned with profits and politics first, and the public interest last. Democracy is best served when the public is able to consider the broadest range of information and political viewpoints so that citizens can make informed decisions. Unfortunately, this new alliance represents a move in the opposite direction."
