WASHINGTON -- The Free Press Summit: Changing Media on May 14 in Washington, D.C., will feature keynote speeches by Acting Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Copps, Vivian Schiller, president and CEO of National Public Radio, and Susan Crawford of President Barack Obama's National Economic Council.
The one-day event will highlight the public interest policies that will reshape the future of the Internet, journalism and public media.

The Free Press Summit will feature a roundtable discussion with former FCC Chairmen Reed Hundt and Michael Powell, Jessica Rosenworcel, senior communications counsel of the Senate Commerce Committee, Ram Shriram, founder of Silicon Valley investment firm Sherpalo Ventures, and Ben Scott, policy director of Free Press.
The event will also introduce new Free Press research and policy proposals on how to respond to the crisis in journalism and achieve universal, affordable, high-speed Internet access. Event attendees will weigh in on these issues in small-group deliberations utilizing innovative, interactive technology.
