Free Press Welcomes FCC Action on Net Neutrality

WASHINGTON -- Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski will soon propose new Network Neutrality rules, according to numerous press reports. Genachowski will be giving a speech on Monday at the Brookings Institution, where he is expected to discuss open Internet proposals and details on the FCC's national broadband plan.
Ben Scott, policy director of Free Press, made the following statement:
"We will reserve full judgment until we know all the details, but we are very pleased to see the FCC protecting the open Internet's free market for speech and commerce. It will be a big win for consumers if the FCC delivers strong Net Neutrality rules that apply across all technologies. We look forward to working with the FCC to develop Net Neutrality rules that protect consumers and provide guidance and certainty for the industry."
