MINNEAPOLIS -- Today, more than 3,000 people from across the country are gathered in Minneapolis for the National Conference for Media Reform -- an extraordinary event showcasing the growing movement to create more accountable, democratic
and diverse media.

"This event is for anyone who cares about the media and is committed to making it better," said Josh Silver, executive director of Free Press. "Millions of people have come to understand that progress on any issue they care about is impossible unless we first fix the problems of the media. This heightened public passion promises to have a profound
impact on America's media landscape."

The National Conference for Media Reform will kick off with keynote speeches from
Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.); Lawrence Lessig, Stanford University law professor;
Adrienne Maree Brown, The Ruckus Society; Janis Lane-Ewart, with KFAI-FM; and
Josh Silver, co-founder and executive director of Free Press.
