The bill would grant the executive branch broad and easily abused powers to swiftly revoke the tax-exempt status of a nonprofit.

Carr says he wants to punish broadcast media and dismantle the so-called “censorship cartel.”

Free Press Action said Carr will carry out the “personal vendettas” of Trump and Elon Musk.

“His groveling is now being rewarded with a promotion,” said Free Press Co-CEO Craig Aaron, “and it’s the American public who will pay a heavy price.”

Carr has “proposed to do a lot of things he has no jurisdiction to do,” said Free Press Co-CEO Jessica J. González.
