The House of Representatives passed a bill to restore Obama-era Net Neutrality protections.

“Today’s vote is a tremendous victory,” Free Press President and CEO Craig Aaron said in a statement.

The list of House members supporting the Save the Internet Act has surged past 200, with the bill moving to a floor vote as early as Tuesday evening.

Broadband really is getting faster, but it has nothing to do with the end of Net Neutrality.

Open-internet campaigners urged the public to call their representatives to demand they pass the bill without any telecom-friendly amendments attached.

Facebook, Twitter and other big platforms need to adopt corporate policies that would disrupt hateful activities online.

“I’m here to do transformative work,” Free Press’ González said. “That involves risk taking.”

The legislation, which would restore the FCC’s 2015 Open Internet Order, will move forward for a full House vote as early as next week.

The elected officials are urging the FCC to “immediately correct any faulty deployment data or flawed analysis.”
