Brenda Rivas
Brenda closely collaborates with Free Press leadership and guides the development team to secure the resources to sustain and grow the organization. She is responsible for shaping the strategy for all fundraising efforts for Free Press and Free Press Action Fund. Brenda has over 12 years of experience working for nonprofit organizations in various capacities, including development, operations, human resources, event planning and program management. Before joining Free Press, Brenda worked at Huntington Medical Research Institutes and the National Hispanic Media Coalition. While at NHMC, she oversaw a grant project to air Spanish-language public-service announcements on California television outlets to let viewers know about affordable internet programs in their area. Brenda is a certified Professional in Human Resources® (PHR®) from HRCI®. She has a B.A. in cinematic arts with an emphasis in critical studies, and a minor in Spanish, from the University of Southern California. She is a proud Latina, wife, mom, nerd and Gene Kelly lover.
