WASHINGTON -- In response to Time Warner Cable's announcement yesterday that it will move forward with plans to limit consumers' Internet use, Free Press is urging its 500,000 members to voice their opposition to Congress.

WASHINGTON -- The Federal Communications Commission launched its "national broadband plan" to bring high-speed Internet to all Americans. The FCC must develop this comprehensive strategy for Congress by Feb. 17, 2010, as part of the $7.2 billion broadband stimulus portion of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.

WASHINGTON -- The Federal Communications Commission announced sweeping changes to the way it collects data on female and minority broadcast ownership in the United States. Free Press research had exposed that the FCC's last data collection process in 2007 missed more than half of all the radio stations owned by women and minorities and more than two-thirds of the television stations.
